Exploring Japan: Central Japan
Exploring Japan: Central Tokyo is a 188-page pocket guidebook that I co-wrote, illustrated, and designed with Lauren Breher as an alternative to traditional travel guides. Speaking with college students and young adults revealed that many prefer journaling their experiences and exploring independently rather than relying solely on conventional guides. Covering five central Tokyo districts — Chuo, Minato, Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Chiyoda — the book blends essential tips and curated highlights of cultural and historical sites with hand-drawn, coloring book–style illustrations. Its compact 4.25 × 6.87 inch size makes it easy to carry, while interactive pages invite readers to color, sketch, jot notes, and collect stamps, transforming the guide into a one-of-a-kind keepsake that captures their journey by their own hand.
